Osteopathy for Babies
As mums and dads you want the best start for your children and babies. At Huddersfield Osteopath we pride ourselves on being able to support you through this journey.
Cranial Osteopathy is a term you may have come across or heard of through other mums, your GP or midwife. This section is to give you some more guidance regarding cranial Osteopathy for babies.
Cranial Osteopathy: What is it?
It is a gentle and subtle Osteopathic treatment. It is normally used to treat babies and children. By using gentle manipulation of the head and spine to make them more comfortable. It is a safe mode of treatment, does not hurt and non-invasive. You can hold your little one throughout the treatment if you wish to. Our aim is to ensure both parent and child are relaxed throughout the treatment.
‘Cranial Osteopathy’, makes you think it is only the head. Strains and stresses can affect any part of the body. Cranial Osteopathy is subtle techniques used by a practitioner to treat not just the head but the body also. It is particularly for when a baby or child is struggling with being able to settle comfortably or with passing wind.
A holistic approach is used incorporating all aspects of Osteopathy itself in order to facilitate healing.
Benefits of Cranial Osteopathy
Babies and children have bodily systems which are immature and still developing along with pliable bones. These can be helped with cranial Osteopathy. It is based on the philosophy of a practitioner using their hands to gentle release tensions within the head, spine, connective tissue, joints and limbs to help your child to feel comfortable and relaxed. Cranial Osteopathy has helped with babies getting to sleep and improving their chances of sleep through.
